HIGHLAND SUBSTANCE AWARENESS TOOLKIT
This toolkit has been commissioned by the Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership.
This online library provides information in relation to substances in Highland. Topics covered include Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs, including New Psychoactive Substances (NPS, previously known as ‘legal highs’), Caffeine, and also information about Blood Borne Viruses (BBV).
HOPE APP
The Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership has developed an app to help reduce drug-related harm and deaths across the north of Scotland.
The Highland Overdose Prevention and Engagement (HOPE) app has been created with input from people with lived experience and a range of experts from NHS Highland and beyond.
The HOPE app is a source of information for people with drug and or alcohol problems, as well as their families or friends, which helps prevent overdose and encourages engagement with services that can help.
It contains information on what to do in an emergency overdose situation for both depressant and stimulant drugs. Harm reduction information and details on how to contact a range of support services are also available on the app.

PLANET YOUTH IN SCOTLAND
Planet Youth is a programme focused on improving young people’s health, wellbeing, and relationships. It is based on the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM), a primary substance use prevention process tool where the key ingredient is data-driven collaboration via community engagement, family- and school involvement and pro-social positive youth development. This includes, schools, parents, carers, businesses, local government public services. The model has been developed by Planet Youth, a research consultancy in Iceland that is now supporting the implementation of its model in with communities throughout the world.

RAPID ACTION DRUG ALERTS AND RESPONSE (RADAR)
Rapid Action Drug Alerts and Response (RADAR) is Scotland’s drugs early warning system.
Using innovative data collection methods, RADAR validates, assesses and shares information to reduce the risk of drug-related harm by:
- identifying new and emerging harms
- recommending rapid and targeted interventions
- publishing accessible, up-to-date information on services, harms and emerging drug trends, including our quarterly report.
SCOTTISH HEALTH ACTION ON ALCOHOL PROBLEMS (SHAAP)
Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) is a partnership of the Medical Royal Colleges in Scotland and the Faculty of Public Health and is based at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE). SHAAP provides the authoritative medical and clinical voice on the need to reduce the impact of alcohol-related harm on the health and wellbeing of people in Scotland and the evidence-based approaches to achieve this.
