Recovery Rises in Caithness August 2016

Posted on

On Tuesday 30th August the Caithness Drug & Alcohol Forum, supported by Scottish Recovery Consortium and the Highland Alcohol & Drugs Partnership, hosted the first community Recovery Conversation Cafe at The Park Hotel in Thurso.

The relaxed cafe environment provided the 74 attendees the opportunity to plan ways to demonstrate that people in Caithness CAN and DO recover and go on to make positive contributions to their local communities.

People in recovery and their families, alongside workers from a range of Caithness agencies shared their experiences of what helps people to recover.

A representative from Caithness Drug & Alcohol Forum said; “It was inspirational to hear that many people do recover and go on to lead fulfilling, positive lives free from substances. A feeling of hope and encouragement for the future of Recovery in Caithness was evident from all those that took part in the event”.

The event was also captured by Graphic Facilitator Clare Mills, Listen Think Draw, whose work will be on display at a location near you in Caithness.
