ABOUT THE HIGHLAND ACOHOL AND DRUGS PARTNERSHIP (HADP)
Our Mission Statement -
"THROUGH PARTNERSHIP, WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROMOTING POSITIVE CHANGE BY ADDRESSING ALL ASPECTS OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL USE IN THE HIGHLANDS"
In April 2009, Scottish Government Ministers launched a new framework, signed by Scottish Government, NHS and CoSLA for local partnerships on alcohol and drugs. The framework confirms the creation of new dedicated partnerships on alcohol and drugs to be known as Alcohol and Drugs Partnerships (ADP's). These replace the Alcohol and Drug Action Teams and will operate in each local authority area embedded within the wider arrangements for community planning. Scottish Government expects that the new ADP's will be operational by 1st October 2009.
Discussion is underway in Highland to look at how our partnerships will fit within the local Community Planning structure; more details on this will follow.
Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (HADP) will be responsible for developing local strategies for tackling drug and alcohol misuse. NHS Boards and local authorities will play a key role in these partnerships together with others including the Police, the Prison Service, and the Third Sector.
HADP is chaired by Councillor Jaci Douglas, and supported by a dedicated team consisting of a Substance Misuse Strategy and Implementation Manager, a Statistics, Research & Information Officer, a Development Officer and Administrative Support.
